We Have a Title Game. I Have a Headache.
Well now we know. We know that politicking helps your team. We also know that when you don’t play for two weeks, the general public (and apparently the coaches and members of the Harris poll) forget about you.
It’s Florida and Ohio State for the national championship of NCAA Football. Should it be Michigan instead? At this point, I am honestly exhausted from arguing (mostly inside my own head) about which one-loss team should play the Buckeyes.
Basically, both deserve to be there. And how ridiculous is the notion that there’s a team out there that doesn’t deserve to be where they are? All these teams have worked hard enough this year to deserve to be there so can we just drop that whole thing please?
So yes, Florida deserves to be there. I just don’t think Michigan deserved to be knocked out. They haven’t played in a couple weeks so some people may have forgotten how dominant they were.
Then there’s the notion that a lot of people don’t want to see a rematch of Michigan/Ohio State. Well, there’s a good reason for the two best teams not to play.
And now Lloyd Carr is catching heat for not speaking up and campaigning for his team, while Urban Meyer is too for doing the exact opposite! How ludicrous is this whole situation?!
But we’ve said it here before, it is what it is. It obviously does no good to argue back and forth, complain about the best regular season in all of sports being followed up by the most ridiculous postseason, and scheme with everyone from your boss to your grandmother on how the system could be improved. We all know the answer to that.
Hopefully someday soon, we’ll able to actually see what is so obviously clear. But not today. So let’s be thankful for another great regular season, and look forward to some terrific bowl games.

It should be Florida playing in the National Championship game. Their schedule has been the toughest out there this season. Teams in the SEC always have strong schedules because all the teams are so good. For Florida to beat all the teams they did this season, they deserve to play Ohio St.
Who would know how good the SEC teams are... they don't play anyone out of conference. Only Vanderbilt played Mich and Fla and coaches and players there agree... Michigan was MUCH better.
The SEC fans talk A LOT, but their non-conference games are 80% at home against lesser teams, while other divisions play 60 to 70% of their non-conference games at home, often against better teams.
When OSU wins, the SEC fans will still have some excuse. So when Michigan beats USC, who will be #2 M or Fla? If that happens and Fla is still #2, then we have a problem.
I still think OSU should play a Non-Big 10 team just to keep all of the doubters at bay. Still I'd like to see Michigan play OSU for the chance to play for the title.
Sorry, I meant to say Michigan Play Florida for the chance to play OSU for the title. Since there is basically a tie for 2nd place.
Florida does have a tough schedule, but I just heard on the radio that Michigan has the 3rd toughest schedule, nonetheless I think there could be an argument for both teams, but I think Florida does have the best chance of beating Ohio State.
No one seems to want to discuss that all of the controversy could have been avoided if when UM lost to OSU they would have dropped in the polls in the first place. If UM loss of 3 points wasn't enough for them to drop in the polls then how many points must you lose by to drop? USC has an argument by this logic because they lost only by 4 to a major rival therefore, they should have remained number 2.
Not true anonymous, UM lost by 3 points to the #1 team in the nation, USC lost by 4 points to a team that was on the verge of going 6-6 if they lost. Even if USC did pull it out and won the game, I think they should've dropped in the poll.
