Thank You Sir! May I Have Another?

Do you really want a rematch? Do you really want to watch the same game we all did two days ago a few weeks down the road? Ohio State/Michigan? Round two? Do you really want that?

Yes.

Before the game, I wasn’t that crazy about the possibility of a rematch to decide the national championship. I mean, who could take another week’s worth of the endless hype provided by everyone, not just ESPN.

Ohio State/Michigan was everywhere, it seemed like this game was for the national championship.

But with the most recent BCS standings this week, I am elated to see Wolverines still in second place, albeit by the slimmest of margins over Southern Cal. As we said last week, they should be in second place. The number two team, all things being equal, should lose to the number one team at their place.

Now we all just have to hope that pollsters, computers and whomever else decides the BCS standings thinks Michigan and Ohio State should play again this season, this time for all the marbles.

Michigan has no control over that now. And they’d be the first ones to tell you that it’s their own fault. If they wanted to be in the National Championship, they should have won all their games. Fine, but still, Michigan is better than USC, better than Florida or Arkansas and luckily we can all say without a doubt they are better than Notre Dame.

There’s no point in arguing this system any more, it’s what we have. Here’s hoping it gives us the right combination this year with Ohio State/Michigan Part 2.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was feeling the same way, I didn't want to see a rematch of OSU and Michigan before Saturday, but clearly after seeing the two play they are the two best teams in the country. I'm going to be rooting for Notre Dame to beat USC this weekend.

Having Ohio State play Michigan is not only unfair to Ohio State, but unfair to the rest of the NCAA.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said Sunday, when both The Associated Press poll and BCS rankings kept Michigan in the No. 2 slot, ahead of Southern California, by margins no wider than a few blades of grass.

'If that does happen,' Meyer said about a possible rematch between Ohio State and Michigan in the national title game, 'all the (university) presidents need to get together immediately and put together a playoff system.

'I mean like now,' he added, 'January or whenever to get that done.'

Michigan had their chance to go to the BCS Championship game, and lost.

How can you reward a team for losing? There are no moral victories in college football.

Granted, the final score was 42-39, but Ohio State would of won by 11 if they hadn't gone to the "prevent" defense and a questionable pass interference penalty on fourth down against the Buckeyes that kept Michigan's last scoring drive alive.

My next question is this: if, and I do mean if, Michigan makes it to the championship game and beats Ohio State, couldn't the Buckeyes stake a share of the title? After all, Michigan would get in for losing. Both teams would have the same record, and the same record against each other.

Everyone who seems to be in favor of a rematch just needs to watch the game over and over on ESPN Classic, because a rematch would be a travesty to college football.

Go Trojans!
Go Gators!

Michigan beat Notre Dame worse than USC did.
Michigan beat Vanderbilt worse than Florida did.
Michigan lost to a better team than USC or Florida or Arkansas or Notre Dame did.

Any questions who is best to play in Championship? Who is Ohio State most afraid of?

Great observation anonymous #2, its a shame the Big Ten ends their season before Thanksgivng, while everyone is still playing. If Michigan had another game, they would past USC
